Dr. Stout's office was very helpful setting up the appointment. My first question to Dr. Stout's office staff to see if they are part of the network for my Anthem Blue Cross PPO plan. They answer was "yes we are". They said they will contact the insurance company and verify the service that was going to be provided. Very pleasant staff name Marcia assured me that the insurance will pay half the amount that I have paid upfront ( I have paid $2485.00 to be exact therefore the payment from the insurance will be 50% around $1230.00.) I received a phone call from Dr. Stout's office and another pleasant employee told me that so sorry the insurance did not pay anything therefore we will not be refunding you any amount. I asked if they can email me the letter/denial for the services that they have on file since I have not received my copy in the mail. After reviewing the declined claim I did contact my insurance provider Anthem Blue Cross PPO. Now here's where I get the answer- Dr. Stout is not in network. He and his office is out of network therefore my insurance will not make any payments and only use $1067.30 towards my deductible. The reason being that again Dr. Stout is out of network. Now since I was assured that Dr. Stout is part of network in my son's case and the staff assured that I will receive half of the amount I paid upfront back turns out they misrepresented the whole situation. If I was told that Dr. Stout is not in network I would have found a Dentist who was. Instead of paying $2485 I would have paid very small amount after my insurance covered $1392.50. I have contacted Dr. Stout's office to see if we can resolve this issue without going extra mile and filing complains. Very friendly employee Sara told me that no one is available to help. The charts are in a different office and she might be able to get back to me. It is a very unprofessional and unethical to lie and deceive patients like this. Dr. Stout must be held responsible for his employees actions.
