Wow. Beautiful indeed. Paradise in the Sierra-Nevada Foothills. I was here for 2.5 weeks so my review will be lengthy. Meandering five miles south from Highway 50, through a Pine and Redwood forest, I arrived at my destination, Villa Jahangiri, on a sunlight Manzanita dappled bluff overlooking 60 acres of pristine water company land and Mount Diablo as a backdrop 130 miles away; stunning sunrises and sunsets from the forested canyon to the east, and the valley to the south and west.
The villa was secure, self-contained, quiet, comfortable (romantic maybe?), and private. There is ample parking and a trailer pad. The single-story, California Ranch Style home, is well insulated, well heated, and can be supplemented with a cozy fire in the sturdy wood stove. It sleeps seven, with a king-sized, a queen-sized, and a twin-over-full bunk-bed. Supplementary sleeping areas can be created at an extra cost (roll-away bed, mattresses, pillows, etc.).
There are: 20 wineries within 10 miles; 15 minutes to Jenkinson Lake - picnicking and swimming; 35 minutes from historic Old Hangtown (Placerville); Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort 45 minutes away; 50 minutes from the first California gold strike: Sutter's Mill; South Lake Tahoe or Sacramento are an hour away; Carson City, Virginia City, and Reno are less than two hours away. The villa is at the winter snowline, and does experience snowfall. Activities in the area include: birdwatching, hiking, biking, swimming, sightseeing, eating, fishing, and of course relaxing. I stayed busy and engaged the whole time.
The villa is surrounded by nature and wildlife. It includes: full kitchen with dishware, pots, pans, cutlery, etc., dishwasher, oven/stove/microwave, trash compactor, pantry stocked with non-perishables. Some perqs: Wi-Fi Internet, Dish Network TV, Blu Ray DVD player, good cell phone reception, Foosbal table, dart board, ample hot water, laundry room, snow discs, front porch hammock swings. The interior decoration is eclectic, and includes comfy, cozy furniture and pillows. Sunlight streams in every window. Everyday needs are accessible - including all the required amenities. The front yard includes a dog run. There is a small sun deck in the backyard.
Two plus weeks here cleared the cobwebs out of my head. I hate to go back home.
