I made two checkup/cleaning appointments for my husband and teenaged step-son several weeks prior to the actual date. A half hour prior to the appointment, the staff called to ask me to come in a half hour later. For the first appointment, the wait time was short, ten minutes. My husband spent an 70 minutes in the back, and they had done nothing but x-rays and submitted treatments to the insurance for cost. They refused to perform the insurance covered cleaning, instead tried to sell him root planing. So he sat in a dental chair for 50 minutes just waiting. My step son went in after a 60 minute wait. My husband ended up needing to go home, so he asked to give our teenage son a cell phone, so that he may call us when the cleaning was over. The office called 40 minutes later to say that they could not perform the cleaning, as he was a minor and we were not in the waiting room. I passed on the cleaning due to time constraints, both appointments ran a total of 2 hours without cleanings! I asked the staff for the recommended procedures, which I compared to similarly completed dental work from 11 months ago. This dentist is charging 40% more! I called my insurance company and they confirmed that the dentist was not charging the contracted rate.
