The Shields Oak Grove is a part of UC Davis Arboretum. It’s located just across of Ruth Risdon Storer Garden along Garrod Drive. The Grove greets you with the most beautiful restroom in the world. The outer walls of the restroom are decorated with a lovely mosaic artwork dedicated to oaks. The mosaic compositions are reflecting various scientific themes, including the oak phylogenetic tree. It could be a starting point of your journey through the grove. Over hundred oaks of various species are there, and many of them are accompanying with ceramic colorful plaques. Pay attention to plaques, they are created with love and with an intention to deliver the message. I was amazed by tree diversity, artistic design, and educational value of this place. Nearly everything became very interesting as soon you start to study it. The grove is different over different seasons, spring, summer, fall and winter. It's never the same. The grove is a local treasure, where you can relax, and get in touch with the nature.
